Doppel's note
Doppel is an entity that appears when players activate its modifier, "uh oh!", or when you activate it during Reprieve.
Appearance[]
Doppel will take the form of a highly brightened, saturated form of the players avatar (Ex. If your avatar had a light blue arm and a dark blue leg, those two limbs may look similar), except that the left half is completely monochrome. (Said limbs would be black or white). Doppel will regularly "glitch" and extend/warp its proportions (such as limbs), and will always have its head facing towards you. In game, you can also see the entity through walls.
When flashed, Doppel will lose its color and flash black and purple. Doppel can't affect players during the flashed state, and simply phases into them.
Due to the fact that all Doppels will look different, the general design of it in drawings or visuals is usually a completely black silhouette of a robloxian with two white eyes (in some drawings, half of its face may be white with a black eye) with one misplaced and on higher elevation than the other.
Behavior[]
When Doppel is about to spawn, a distorted and messy text animation on the screen saying "uh oh! bad decision!" will appear for a short while. Once it appears, Doppel will appear and mimic the players inputs perfectly. Players must keep moving to avoid coming into contact. Doppel will mimic the player's movements with a delay of 1.5 seconds; this is shortened to 0.5 within REPRIEVE.[2] Doppel will follow closely for around 20 rooms or so or until reaching a saferoom before disappearing.
If a player gets caught by Doppel, their screen will become monochromatic for a few seconds and will make it so that it inverts their forward and backward control inputs only. (Moving forward will make you go backwards and vice versa, but this does not include moving either left or right.)
When the monochrome effect is about to end, it will flicker between monochromatic and regular vision before ending the flicker on the normal vision. This will also change your controls rapidly basically making it so you can’t move.
Getting in close proximity with Doppel will cause the music in the background to be muffled, along with the screen darkening. Doppel will also speak and (presumably) taunt players. When chased by an entity that forces players to stay still or stay in an area, it's recommended for them to flash Doppel and move to another part of the spot or continue flashing it until players can properly move again. Flashing Doppel will make it able to be phased through for 2 seconds. This has no cooldown, so it's recommended that players learn the timing of when to flash Doppel again. They cannot flash Doppel while they are both standing still in the same spot. The players could also do what Doppel’s note says: Slow down, or run around in a circle to avoid Doppel.
Every so often, Doppel will say something as it pursues each player. These dialogues are written below.
SPAWN[]
- "Hi there!"
- "Where are you going?"
- "You're not done with me!"
- "Your sins follow from behind!"
- "Uh oh! Bad decision!"
PASSIVE[]
- "HEE HEE HEE!"
- "Get back here!"
- "Your sins will catch up!"
- "Your mistakes are all too apparent!"
- "Why do you run from your past?"
- "Just accept it."
- "You can run, but you can't hide!"
- "You can't escape from your sins!"
CAUGHT[]
- "Gotcha!"
- "No where to run!"
- "See how aimless you are?"
FLASHED[]
- "GAH!"
- "GEH!"
- "TEH!"
Doppel also has a few voicelines which are only heard in the gamemode Reprieve, said voicelines being the following:
- "Look what you did to them."
- "You hurt them."
- "Nothing can mend the damage you've done."
- "They're gone because of you."
- "There's no coming back."
- "You ruined it forever."
- "Don't even think about forgiveness."
- "It's your fault."
- "You did this to yourself."
- "There is no redemption."
- "I hate you."
- "You're not enough."
- "You can't go on."
- "It's pointless."
- "You'll never win. You're alone."
- "Look at what you've done."
- "You can't do this forever, I'd know."
- "You're weak."
- "They'll never forgive you."
- "Whatever happened to that promise you made so long ago?"
There are more voicelines in both gamemodes, although many of them are highly distorted and therefore extremely difficult to understand.
Parrying[]
Within the gamemode Reprieve, the player gains the ability to parry attacks. If they are to come into contact with Doppel and parry, it will do the same effects as flashing Doppel while also launching the player away from it, which gets the player away from Doppel and also makes it temporarily unable to attack the player.

Trivia[]
- Doppel is an abbreviated term to the word "doppelgänger" which means the apparition or double of a person, hence what Doppel's inspiration was taken from.
- Doppel is inspired by the Mandela Catalogue in its entirety.
- Specifically, the phrase "uh oh! bad decision!" is a reference to the iconic "Uh oh! Bad decision, Mark." line, from Vol. 1 of the Mandela Catalogue.
- It's badge is also a reference to the Intruder picture from Volume 1.
- The “FATAL ERROR” modifier icon also references Volume 1.
- Doppel will attack if the player is within a radius of 1.5 studs of its Humanoid Root Part.[3]
- Simon (the game's creator), has said that Doppel's behavior takes inspiration from Fake Peppino from a Pizza Tower lapping mod.
- There are a lot of lapping mods for Pizza Tower, so there's no way to pinpoint which one he was talking about, but the general community consensus is that "Lap 6" is where FP spawns, so any mods included could be it.
- Despite this, Fake Peppino's behavior actually originates from the Golf build of Pizza Tower, where he would spawn in during the escape.
- Doppel always looks at the player, even if its body is facing a completely different direction.
- Doppel is the only hostile entity unable to kill the player without modifiers.
- Doppel uses two whispering text-to-speech bots.[4]
- According to Simon, Doppel is not a species or a single being; rather, everybody with past regrets would have their own Doppel.[5]
- It is implied in the Reprieve gamemode that the player slaps Doppel upon parrying it. This can be noticed by the sound effect that plays when parrying it, and the respective badge obtained via parrying it being called "TALK TO THE HAND".
- Doppel has a dedicated card in Blox Cards, as part of the Grace X Blox Cards collab.

In REPRIEVE, on the other hand, Doppel mimics your actions from 0.5 seconds ago meaning you can't stand idle for as long before it catches up (not that you should be standing still in REPRIEVE)." —HexT on Discord; August 3, 2025 - ↑ https://discord.com/channels/1323847979488251980/1323847980482039810/1326355706231918624
