escape sin, but you know you can’t, you’ve already paid, can’t you see? why are you pretending it isn’t there? why are you pretending this is an option? you can’t get this badge. you can’t escape your actions.

-Cope badge

Sin is the main and optional threat within the gamemode Zen.

Appearance[]

Sin appears extremely similar to that of God, that being a simple, singular eye. Unlike God however, instead of the sclera being white, they are black. Along with this, the entire iris and pupil are white and so are the outlines, being an inverted version of God. Within the iris are black tattoo-like patterns, those being "T" shaped protrusions that come from the sides of the sclera and into the iris, diagonal lines around the pupils that border it, and bracket-like lines around the pupil. The pupil is in the shape of an "X".

Within the document, they appear almost the exact same as God, except with a red Sclera.

Behavior[]

Within Zen, a glowing pink crack with a diamond-shaped fruit may begin to form just above doors after a while. Touching this crack will trigger a chase sequence with Sin, with a caption saying "uh oh... look up"

The text will say "run.", and Tri-Yin Yang in the sky will shatter, as Sin appears. The song “ACTIONS & CONSEQUENCE” will replace the calming ambiance, completely altering the setting, turning Zen from a quiet and peaceful stride into a rushed, heavy, and crazed run for your life. You will also gain a lettered score while you are chased, being the typical A, B, and C scores as well as an S, and pluses if you go past an S.

If Sin gets within 450 studs of you, an onscreen meter will display, showing you the current studs it is away from you. It will stay on your screen until you are above 450 studs away from it. This chase will last forever until you either die or leave the game.

Sin chases similarly to that of Doppel, but instead of moving as slow/fast you were, Sin moves at a set speed and copies your movement. This means if you ran extremely fast (faster than Sin) and slowed down (slower than Sin), Sin would eventually reach you. However, if you are too far away, Sin will speed up so you do not gain too much of a lead.[1]

Trivia[]

  • The "cope" badge is unobtainable, hinting at the fact you metaphorically can't escape Sin.
  • Sin's entire appearance being an inverted pallet of God's relates to how Sin and God are seen as complete opposites, as shown within the document and within biblical texts such as how Satan is the closest thing to an opposite of God.
  • The "uoy pleh ll'i" badge reversed is "i'll help you", which contributes to it being the opposite of God.
  • Sin's pupil is similar to Mime's indicator.
  • When Sin spawns in, any Goobers on your screen run off.
  • Sin is born from the Tri-Yin Yang symbol in Zen cracking open, as Sin spawns on the symbol's location after it shattered.
    • This is also referenced in the "uoy pleh ll'i" badge, having Sin's smoke coming out of the cracked Tri-Yin Yang.
  • According to Simon and HexT, all of the entities in Grace are Sin in disguise. The form that's seen in spoiled Zen is its true form.[2][3]
